About ModernTechLap

In one paragraph

ModernTechLap is an AI visibility company and an independent tech publication. We measure how AI assistants answer the questions your buyers ask, show which competitors get named instead, and identify the sources those answers rely on. We also publish expert technical writing and clearly labeled press releases.

Why ModernTechLap exists

A buyer evaluating software used to open Google, scan a page of results and click three or four of them. Increasingly they ask an assistant instead, and the assistant replies with a shortlist. Two or three vendors get named. The rest are not ranked lower, they are absent from a conversation they never saw happen.

That created a measurement problem and a considerably harder second problem. Finding out that an assistant does not mention you is the easy half. Changing it is not, because these answers are assembled from published sources rather than from anything you control directly.

ModernTechLap was founded in 2026 to work on both halves: measure what the answers actually say, then do the publishing work that changes what those answers have to draw on.

What we do

AI visibility research

We ask AI assistants the questions your buyers ask -- dozens of them, across comparisons, alternatives and problem-solving -- and record what comes back: whether you are named, which competitors are named instead, and which sources the answers lean on. A person does the research and writes it up. There is no instant grade.

How the research works

Expert publishing

Developers, founders and engineers publish technical articles here. Every submission goes to a human editor and gets a decision within three business days. Accepted articles publish with a byline and an author profile page.

Submit an article

Paid PR

Companies publish announcements as press releases in their own section of the site, each carrying a visible sponsored label. Editorial-style formatting, a flat published price, and a same-day option.

How we are different

Most vendors in this category will not tell you which prompts they ran, how many times they ran them, or how a score was arrived at. That is an understandable commercial instinct and a poor deal for the buyer, because a number you cannot audit is an assertion rather than a finding. We would rather publish the method and let it be argued with.

The second difference is structural. This is a working publication with editors and readers, not a dashboard with a content service bolted on. When the research shows a topic where no credible source covers what your buyers are asking, publishing something credible on it is a thing we can actually do.

What we do not claim

Nobody can guarantee that an AI assistant will mention a brand. The models are not ours, the selection logic is not published, and the same question can return a different shortlist tomorrow. Anyone promising placement is selling something they cannot deliver. The AI visibility page sets out what is and is not measurable.

We also do not sell links. Body links inside contributed articles carry rel="nofollow ugc", and outbound links inside press releases carry rel="sponsored". If what you want is a followed backlink, we are the wrong supplier.

How paid content works

Two things here are paid for, and both are disclosed. A publishing fee covers editorial review, formatting and publication. Paying it does not guarantee acceptance and does not make the resulting article an endorsement by ModernTechLap.

Press releases are commercial content and are treated that way: they live in their own section, they carry a sponsored badge above the headline, and they are never mixed into the editorial feed. The full policy, including how corrections are handled, is in our editorial standards, and what we accept or reject is in the publication guidelines.

How we work

  • Any claim with a number in it needs a source, including ours.
  • Paid content is labeled where a reader will actually see it, not in a footnote.
  • Editorial decisions are made by editors, never by whoever paid.
  • We publish how the work is done, including the parts of it that are weak.
  • A small true number beats a large unverifiable one.

Common questions

What does ModernTechLap do?
ModernTechLap measures how AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini answer the questions a company's buyers ask, reports which competitors get named instead and which sources those answers cite, and publishes expert technical articles and clearly labeled press releases.
Is ModernTechLap a software product or a publication?
Both, and the combination is the point. The AI visibility research is a service delivered as a written report rather than a self-serve dashboard. The publication is a working tech site with editors and readers, which is what makes it possible to act on what the research finds instead of only reporting it.
Does ModernTechLap guarantee mentions in AI answers?
No. The models belong to other companies, their selection logic is not published, and the same question can return a different shortlist on a different day. ModernTechLap measures where a brand stands, shows the evidence, and works through the changes most likely to help, in priority order.
Does paying to publish affect editorial review?
No. A publishing fee covers editorial review, formatting and publication. It does not guarantee acceptance and it does not make an article an endorsement by ModernTechLap. Press releases are commercial content, kept in a separate section and labeled as sponsored on every page.
