Editorial Standards & Content Policy
Last updated: June 10, 2026
1. Our Editorial Mission
ModernTechLap is an independent tech publishing platform. Our mission is to surface high-quality, expert-written content from developers, founders, and engineers — without letting volume, pay-to-play placement, or brand interests compromise editorial quality.
We choose quality over volume. Every article published on ModernTechLap — whether a free guest post or a paid placement — must meet minimum editorial standards for accuracy, originality, and relevance to our tech audience.
2. Guest Post Review Process
All guest post submissions go through a structured editorial review before publication:
Review timeline
Our editorial team reviews submissions within 3 business days of receipt. Authors receive a decision — accepted, needs revision, or declined — via email.
Acceptance criteria
- Original content — articles must not have been published elsewhere. Submissions are screened for plagiarism and duplicate content.
- Expert authorship — authors must have verifiable professional experience relevant to the topic. See Section 6 for verification requirements.
- Non-promotional body text — articles must provide genuine value to readers. Body text that reads as a product advertisement will be declined or returned for revision.
- Topic fit— we accept articles on AI & ML, SaaS, developer tools, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, and startup growth. Off-topic submissions are declined without review.
- Minimum length — articles must be at least 700 words. Thin or low-effort submissions are declined.
Link policy in guest posts
Outbound links in guest post body text use rel="nofollow ugc". Your author profile page includes a single dofollow link to your website.
3. Sponsored Content Policy
ModernTechLap offers Paid PR packages that allow brands to publish press releases and announcements to our tech audience. Paid content is subject to the following rules:
- Clear labeling — all paid placements carry a visible “Sponsored / Paid PR” badge displayed prominently above the headline. This label cannot be removed or hidden.
- Editorial accuracy review — paid content is reviewed for factual accuracy and compliance with our content policy before publication. We reserve the right to decline submissions that contain false or misleading claims.
- No editorial influence — purchasing a Paid PR package does not confer any influence over our independent editorial content, news coverage, or rankings.
- Outbound link attribution — outbound links in Paid PR articles use
rel="sponsored"per Google's link scheme guidelines.
4. AI-Generated Content Policy
We recognise that AI writing tools are widely used in professional content workflows. Our policy distinguishes between AI-assisted drafting and fully AI-generated content:
- AI-assisted drafts — accepted— articles drafted or edited with AI tools are accepted, provided the named author takes full accountability for the accuracy, originality, and expert quality of the content. The author's professional knowledge must be demonstrably present in the piece.
- Fully AI-generated articles — not accepted — articles that are entirely generated by AI without substantive expert review, original insight, or human accountability are not accepted. Our editorial team screens for thin, generic AI-produced content.
- Disclosure — authors are not required to disclose AI tool usage, but are required to certify that the content is accurate and that they accept editorial responsibility for it.
5. Correction Policy
ModernTechLap is committed to factual accuracy. When errors are identified:
- Factual corrections — verified factual errors are corrected within 48 hours of being reported. A correction notice is appended to the article noting the date and nature of the change.
- Reporting an error — to report a factual error, email editors@moderntechlap.com with the article URL, the specific claim in question, and a source supporting the correction.
- Author corrections — authors may request corrections to their own published articles by contacting the editorial team. Substantive changes to published articles require editorial approval.
- Sponsored content corrections— factual errors in Paid PR placements are corrected with the same 48-hour standard. The “Sponsored / Paid PR” label is never removed as part of a correction.
6. Author Verification
To maintain editorial integrity, all contributors to ModernTechLap must have a verifiable professional identity:
- Required — contributors must provide a link to a verifiable professional profile: either a LinkedIn profile or a GitHub profile (or equivalent professional presence). Anonymous or pseudonymous submissions are not accepted.
- Topic alignment — your professional background must be relevant to the article topic you are submitting. A software engineer submitting an article on cloud infrastructure qualifies; an unrelated professional submitting the same article does not.
- Author profile— accepted contributors receive a public author profile page on ModernTechLap, including their name, bio, and dofollow link to their website. Profile accuracy is the author's responsibility.
- Verification process — our editorial team reviews the submitted profile link during the standard 3-business-day review. Authors whose professional identity cannot be verified will be asked for additional confirmation before publication.
